The Castle Museum is located in a Renaissance castle, the beginnings of which are dated back to the middle of the 14th century. A part of the interiors, the Ducal Terrace, the Bell Tower, and two castle courtyards have been opened to the visitors. The collections can be seen at five permanent exhibitions, which present, among others, restored interiors of ducal chambers and funeralia, including 17th-century sarcophagi. There is also Lubinus Gabines (Cabinet of Lubinus) of a 17th-century cartographer, and in the cellar the Witches' Cell is situated.
In the place where the castle was built, there used to be a Slavic stronghold with a wooden manor belonging to the Duke Wartislaw I. The castle itself had been rebuilt several times. It was only in the second half of the 20th century that the original 16th-century Renaissance appearance was restored. As part of the exhibition in the Witches' Cell, the former torture devices and a holographic projection about the fate of Sydonia von Borck are presented. The Pomeranian noblewoman was accused of witchcraft, beheaded, and burned at the stake.Less
