The Dialogue Centre "Przełomy" ("Breakthroughs") is a branch of the National Museum in Szczecin which main purpose is to present the latest history of the city and Western Pomerania. It is located in the underground pavillion, and the exhibits located there concern mainly breakthrough moments in 1939-89.
Currently, the exhibitions have been divided into five modules. "Genesis - a stranger among its own people" deals with issues of the western border of Poland, Szczecin as a melting pot, and the Szczecin Shipyard. The next modules present the following events in order: December 1970, August 1980, August 1988. The last part is intended for the temporary exhibitions.The museum building, designed by Robert Konieczny, won prestigious international awards in architectural competitions. At the World Architecture Festival in Berlin, it became the "building of 2016 in the Culture category" and "the building of 2016 in the world".Less
