The Rector's Office of the Pomeranian Medical University is located in a historic building from the beginning of the 20th century. The three-wing builidng with irregular shape is located within the Old Town. A high tower adjoins the building from the southern side. It had been built according to the design of Wilhelm Meyer-Schwartau as the headquarters of the then city administration.
The building had preserved the bombardment carried out during the World War II without major damages. After the war, a newly created Medical Academy was placed there, which in 1949 changed its name to the Pomeranian Medical Academy. The current name has only been in use since 2010.In the 14th century, the area where the rector's office of Pomeranian Medical University is currently located had belonged to the Cistercian order. There was a residence called "The Manor" and the quarters of the members of the order. Two hundred years later, the buildings passed to the municipal jurisdiction. In the buildings the National Chancellery, and later warehouses were situated.Less
