Devil's Mill
Local name: Czarci Młyn
The Devil's Mill from 1890 is one of the few preserved mills in the region which is operating since the day it was built. It serves today as an outdoor museum which presents the old process of production of bread, starting with the processing of cereal by mill devices, to kneading, and ending on baking loaves in the bread oven.
The four-story mill consists of many monumental devices and machines for the production of flour, groats, and baking such as the hundred-years-old bread oven which functions to this day. It is an example of architecture typical for the Silesian-Czech borderland. The object preserved the original look and basic equipment from the times of its construction. It was powered by the water wheel with a diameter of 6,5 m until 1951 which is now displayed as a monument of past technology. Nowadays, the mill's source of energy is an electric engine. There is a legend related to the Devil's Mill which visitors can learn about during the tour.Less
