Well

Local name: Studnia

The 17th century well located in the Market Square in Rzeszów is one of the 'newest' city's monuments. The well was discovered in 2001 by accident when during renovations a piece of stone wall was found. In the past, it was a source of potable water for inhabitants. It has been buried in the 19th when it was decided that road will be built in the Market Square.

15m in length well had a connection with the network of underground passages at the depth of 12m. Its restoration was based upon the 18th century engravings by Karol Wiedemann - court architect of the Lubomirski family. Above the well hand-hewn larch octagonal pavilion was placed. The whole was covered by copper plate.

As a central point of the Market Square, it quickly became a popular meeting place for inhabitants and starting point for city tours.
