Culture and Recreation Park is the biggest park in Rzeszów. Green lands are stretching along Wisłok river, between Lwowski Bridge and Karpacki Bridge. It's a place of leisure and recreation. Inhabitants can use numerous walking alleys, gym, playground or spend time in a more extreme way - in the rope park, skatepark or dirtpark.
Its origin is related to the construction of dam on Wisłok in 1973. The reservoir was supposed to be a source of potable water for the inhabitants, a protection against flood and an attractive place for leisure. It was then when boulevard was built. Surroundings of the lagoon are a heaven for ornithologists. Over 200 bird species were seen here, including rare and endangered species. In the park, near the footbridge for pedestrians, the statue of Stanisław Nitka can be found. Nitka was a ferryman who for years had been transporting inhabitants on the other side of the river. The outdoor stage where open-air events are organized is located nearby. From the north, the park is connected to Lisia Góra Nature Reserve.Less
