Monument to the Revolutionary Action

Local name: Pomnik Czynu Rewolucyjnego

The monument was built in the 1970s on the initiative of the first secretary of Voivodeship Committee of Polish United Workers' Party, Władysław Kruczek. The task was undertaken by the Polish sculptor Marian Adam Konieczny - the then rector of the Cracow Academy of Fine arts. One side of the monument was decorated by the symbol of Nike - the embodiment of victory - and the other side by the figures of peasant, soldier, and worker.

The ceremony of unveiling of the monument took place in 1974. Since that time its shape doesn't change in the exception of the coat of arms of Rzeszów that was put on the top. The land, where the monument is located, is the Bernardine fathers property. It was given them by the city for 1% of its real value. The gardens and the underground parking were created there.

The monument, because of its origins and also a shape, arouses a lot of curiosity and controversy. It became a hero of the short film directed by the Rzeszów's students of Computer Science, where it comes to life and takes a walk around the city. The movie is available on Youtube.
