Bernardine Gardens

Local name: Ogrody Bernardyńskie

The Italian style Bernardine Gardens are the decoration of Rzeszów since 2013. They are located in the center of the city nearby the building of the Voivodeship Office, the statue of Revolutionary Act and the Bernardine Basilica. The gardens are a network of intersecting alleys with the fountain, pond pergolas and rich decorative flora.

Bernardines, the owners of these lands from the 17th century, ran a farm there. It was also used as a place for performing devotions and carrying out political meetings. In times of the Polish People's Republic, the place was converted to the parking.

The cultural-religious center that was used for lectures and conferences was built together with the gardens. This part of the project was partially funded by the Union grants while the parking located beneath the gardens was funded by money collected by Bernardines.
