Windmill „Józef”

Local name: Wiatrak „Józef”

"Józef" is a koźlak windmill. It comes from the second half of the 18th century and is a remnant of the times when 39 such facilities operated in the vicinity of Rydzyna. Since 2004 it has been the seat of the Museum of Agriculture and Milling.

The collections presented in the facility were divided into two exhibitions. The first includes small items used in agriculture, the second includes history of windy milling. Numerous festivities, occasional parties and meetings are organized by the windmill. Next to the mill there are old mill stones excavated nearby.

In 1913, "Józef" was composed of two other windmills, coming from a nearby field on Młyńska Góra. In 2003, it was thoroughly renovated and has been a benchmark for the reconstructed windmills. It has retained its silhouette, including the gallery and stairs. From the equipment we will see a finger wheel, a brake pad, a chute and a bag winch. The mill construction is supported by a complete headstock.
