Local name: Cerkiew w Puchłach

The Orthodox Church of the Protection of Our Lady in the Pumps is an Orthodox temple, which, together with the Orthodox Church in Pawłów and the Orthodox Church in Narew, is located on the trail of the Open-air Country. The temple is extremely important for the local people as it is an important center of Marian devotion.

The present wooden church building was built at the beginning of the 20th century, at the site of two previous temples. Its location is associated with local legends. According to one of them, the miraculous icon of Our Lady of Welfare appeared to a man suffering from swollen legs. Man after he saw the picture on the top of the tree he recovered. The second story is similar, with the difference that the icon appeared after the local population prayed to Mary to protect them from the wrong heir, who ordered them to go to Greek Catholicism.

The temple was built on a cross. It has a framed structure and it is formwork. On the sides of the apse (chancel) there are two rectangular sacristy (panes). In the western part is the pritwor (vestibule), which was crowned with a belfry. The building is surrounded by stone crosses and picturesque trees.

Inside the church there is a wonderful icon of Our Lady of Worship dating from around 1781. She presents the Virgin Mary standing on a cloud in a draped dress with a crown on her head. The icon is not original. The real one most likely burnt down with the previous church in a fire in 1771. The building was surrounded by stone crosses and picturesque trees.
