Archaeological Reserve Genius Loci

Local name: Rezerwat Archeologiczny Genius Loci

The Archaeological Reserve Genius Loci is located in the centre of Poznań. It aims to familiarize visitors with the earliest history of Ostrów Tumski. A modern multimedia exhibition consists of presentations, 3D projections, and holograms that allow visitors to trace the history of this place. In specially arranged pavillions one can also see the remains of the city walls from the 10th century and the 16th century fortifications of Poznań.

The Archaeological Reserve Genius Loci in Poznań has been opened to visitors in 2012. It is the result of comprehensive research that was carried out in Ostrów Tumski. The first part of the exhibition contains mainly multimedia stations. In the cinema room there is a 3D movie about the beginnings of Poznań and the discovery of this story. In the following part, there is an interactive exhibition on which the early medieval castle and buildings of Ostrów Tumski have been recreated.

The last part of the reserve are places from which visitors can see the remains of the old defensive walls. They are located in pavillions, under the glass floors. Besides it, the temporary exhibitions related to the history of Poznań are presented in the reserve.
