The ancient castle was built on a glacial hill and heavily fortified. From archaeological research we know that the defensive structure was surrounded by a shaft and a palisade. It was also equipped with an observation tower. It is believed that the castle was destroyed in 1090 by Władysław Herman during the suppression of the Pomorzan rebellion. The place of the former castle was a camp of the Swedes during the Deluge. Hence the name of Swedish Hill was used today.
