Market in Oborniki is the most important square in the city. Its shape dates back to the times of the town. It is surrounded by storied tenement houses dating back to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.
Oborniki was founded in the early 14th century. Then the former market place was transformed into a market. It has a rectangular shape, and out from the corners there are two orthogonal streets. Buildings Market is much younger. Small, neo-classical and secession houses were built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Many of them have nicely decorated facades. A few survived the attic. In the center of the square is the statue of John Paul II in 2005.
