Wrocław Tower

Local name: Wieża Wrocławska

The Wroclaw Tower in Nysa, also called the White Tower, is a well preserved element of the medieval door structure. The Baroque-style bastion was a fragment of the ninth fortifications from the 14th century. Today, the White Tower is a hallmark of Nysa and a valuable monument of medieval architecture.

The Tower of Wrocław Tower is 33 meters long and was once crowned with a slender spire, which was destroyed by the Swedes in 1642. Nyskie walls and towers protected the city from invasions for several centuries. The fortifications were dismantled only at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, leaving only a few fragments that became the showpieces of the city. The Wroclaw Tower was a self-contained defense center, accessible only by a hole at the height of the walls. This hole and has survived to this day, however, the current transition was probably preserved in the nineteenth century, during the demolition of the fortifications. An additional advantage of the tower are preserved stucco decorations, created in the seventeenth century.

Today the Wroclaw Tower is an interesting tourist attraction and a valuable monument of medieval military architecture. Tourists are eager to admire fragments of ancient Nysa fortifications that were once crucial to the city's security.
