St. James Treasury

Local name: Skarbiec św. Jakuba

St. James Treasury is a gallery of sacral art. Its interior consists of liturgical vessels, sculptures, and candleholders which are the pride of the Nysa's parish for many years. Visitors can admire treasures which, in the past, made Nysa a center of goldsmithing in Silesia.

The exhibition of sacral art is located in the cathedral belfry. The specially designed space on three floors consists of the most valuable souvenirs presented in glass-cases. Many of liturgical vessels are used to this day during Masses. The most valuable exhibits are, among others, the cross by Christopher Waltenberg, and the priceless ampule with the heart of Karol Habsburg, Bishop of Wrocław. Wares of the best Silesian goldsmiths and sculptors from the past times can be admired here.

The gallery was opened in 2005 and since that time it is a popular tourist destination. It is located in the belfry from the 15th and 16th century near St. James and Agnes Church in Nysa.
