Basketry and Hop Museum
Local name: Muzeum Wikliniarstwa i Chmielarstwa
The museum was founded in 1985 and is the only institution of this type in Poland. The collections gathered in the museum relate to the history and technique of wicker cultivation, how to weave wicker products and the history of hop cultivation. In the area surrounding the museum there is a botanical exhibition: a plantation of over seventy varieties of wicker, a small plantation of hop varieties and a willow park showing various forms of wicker.
Two facilities were earmarked for the needs of the facility: the reconstructed residential building of the Olęder settler from the end of the 18th century and the Olęder barn. The first facility presents three permanent exhibitions, where we will see machines and tools used in wickerwork, hopping and braiding, as well as products made of wicker and other plaiting materials.
In addition, the facility will learn the varieties of hops, methods of its cultivation and methods of practical use. There are two permanent exhibitions in the Olęder barn. Among the numerous exhibits, you can see useful wicker products (baskets, furniture) as well as artistic forms.
