Regional Museum
Local name: Muzeum Regionalne
The museum is based in a nineteenth-century building of the former magistrate. The museum exhibition occupies five exhibition halls, which include ethnographic collections from the area of the Notecka Forest. Interesting meetings with writers, poets and representatives of the world of science are also organized in the facility.
The first room presents old furniture and household items, the next three are devoted to crafts as well as agriculture and fisheries. We will see here, among others the oldest single-furrow plow and horseshoes for oxen preserved in Greater Poland. The fifth room is the exhibition devoted to the Greater Poland Uprising, which presented, among others, uniforms, banners, decorations, photographs and staff maps.
The museum organizes a large number of temporary exhibitions, and their topics are very diverse. They are often exhibitions showing the effects of painting plein-airs. The opening of temporary exhibitions is one of the most important cultural events in the city and poviat. The museum also patronizes educational events.
