The museum is housed in the cells of the former Gestapo detention center. During the conservation work one of the prison cells with equipment and a dark cell were reconstructed and inscriptions left by prisoners on the walls were secured. The collection of the museum is mainly the correspondence of prisoners from the castle, as well as documents and personal souvenirs of the convicts.
Correspondence consists of letters, postcards and secret messages. Presented personal belongings of prisoners are primarily identity cards, membership cards, school certificates, notebooks and textbooks, as well as scout crosses and school shields. The facility also contains rich iconographic materials of Lublin from 1939-1944 and a photographic archive of former prisoners of the Castle. The museum building during the occupation was called "Under the Clock". Before the war, it was the headquarters of the Earth Office. After the takeover of the facility by the Gestapo, its interiors were rebuilt.Downstairs and on the floors there were offices, where prisoners were interrogated. In the basement, there were prison cells.Less
