The Trinitarian Tower in Lublin is a preserved element of the former Jesuit Order. Today, it houses the Archdiocesan Museum with a rich collection of sacred monuments. From the vantage point on the top there is a beautiful panorama of the city.
The tower is considered the highest point of urban sprawl, therefore the platform placed on its top is an ideal place to admire the surrounding panorama. The church owes its name to the Order of Trinitarians living in the existing monastery buildings for several decades.Built in the seventeenth century as a belfry, in the past the building served as the entrance gate to the city and the city weigh house. A dozen or so years after its construction in the vicinity of the city walls, the monastery buildings were built, and the tower became a passage connecting them with the city within the walls. When the order was liquidated, the tower deprived of the owner fell into ruin and even the Trinitarian who lived in the monastery did not save it. The monastery buildings were demolished in 1815, and the city weigh house was placed in the tower. In 1819 it was rebuilt to obtain a shape that we can admire at present.Less
