The museum is located in the Main Building of the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), in the former refectory. It has extensive collections on the history of the university established in 1918 and a collection of works of art provided by private donors. Among the paintings here are works by Jerzy Nowosielski, Piotr Michałowski, Jan Matejko, Jacek Malczewski or Włodzimierz Tetmajer.
Although museum traditions reach almost the beginning of the university's existence, it was only in 2007 that a real museum was opened here. The museum has designated rooms of the former refectory, and then the university canteen, which were adapted for exhibition purposes. In 2018, KUL celebrates its 100th anniversary. Therefore, the form of the museum is also changed. At permanent exhibitions, apart from documents, photos or objects related to the history of the university, there will be an extraordinarily rich collection of works of art located in the university depository or being gifts for the Catholic University of Lublin.A separate exhibition is devoted to the patron of the university, John Paul II, who was a professor at KUL.Less
