Visitors to Old Market Square in Łowicz can admire many valuable architectural monuments built over centuries: the Cathedral Basilica, the Custody, the Town Hall, the Museum, the Primate's Gate, the Daughter, the Canon, the Curia of the Vicars, the Piarist Church and a number of historic tenements.

Since the Middle Ages, the market has had commercial functions, with weekly fairs and annual fairs. Since the emergence of the New Market "Triangle", in the fifteenth century gradually from the commercial functions Market took up typical church functions in Lowicz.
