White Factory - Museum of Textiles
An uncommon open-air museum, the exhibition of which consists of monuments of Łódź wooden architecture from the 19th and 20th centuries. From Łódź and its surroundings a large summer villa, a tenement house, four craftsmen's houses (including a weaver's and a paper maker's houses), church of Saint Andrzej Bobola, and a tram stop building have been moved to the area of the open-air museum.
In the paper maker's house the Museum of Paper and Print is located. Visitors can see there a reconstructed bookbinder's workshop, a typesetter's workshop and an original living room from 1895. A spectacular object is a summer villa from the beginning of the 20th century which was moved from Ruda Pabianicka. The unusual form and beauty of the building caused that it played twice in the films - in the American horror film "House" and in the Polish costume drama, entitled "Influence" ("Hiszpanka"). Attention is also drawn to the Evangelical church built in the middle of the 19th century, which after the World War II became a Catholic church. The extraordinary character of the building is based on the combination of a wooden structure with a brick facade.Less
