Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Local name: Kościół Nawiedzenia NMP

Leski parish church Visitation of the Virgin Mary is one of the oldest religious buildings in the region. It has a late-Gothic silhouette and a Baroque interior, resulting from the eighteenth-century reconstruction. In it you can see, for example, a magnificent 18th-century altar, a double-sided painted icon depicting the Virgin Mary and Saint. Nicholas, painting "Finding St. Paweł ”, an alabaster bust of the Mother of God with the Child, a polychrome by Jan Henryk Rosen and marble inscription epitaphs. In the crypt lies, among others one of the leaders of the Bar Confederation, Franciszek Pulaski.

The church was founded in 1539 from the foundation of the owner of Lesko property, Piotr Kmita. Probably it was built by builders brought from Silesia. It was part of the city's fortifications. Until the 17th century, he bore the call of St. Nicholas. During the Swedish invasion, the temple was damaged and plundered. In the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, redevelopments took place, including under the direction of architect Gotfryd Hoffman.

There is a baroque belfry next to the temple, which was built for forty years.
