Town Hall in Łęczyca

Local name: Ratusz w Łęczycy

Located inside: Tadeusz Kosciuszko Square

The Town Hall in Łęczyca is the work of Jakub Kubicki, the eminent Polish architect, the scholarship of King Stanisław August Poniatowski, the mason, the author of the project of the Temple of Divine Providence. The town hall was erected in 1787-1790 in neoclassical style, which later was blurred. A form similar to the original building recovered in 2007.

The biggest changes in the architecture of the town hall were made by renovation and reconstruction from the beginning of the twentieth century. Added a balcony on the floor, changed the profile of the cornices, and the roof was lowered. This condition has survived for about 100 years. As a result of renovation works that were carried out in 2005-2007, the facility was able to restore the form to the one Jakub Kubicki gave him.

Descended from the state of bourgeois architect, he shaped the model of a typical Polish palace-court. It is also the author of the 1791 project of the Temple of Divine Providence - over the denominational Masonic temple, a vote of gratitude for the adoption of the May 3 Constitution.
