Wyspiański Pavilion

Local name: Pawilon Wyspiańskiego

Wyspiański Pavilion in the center of Kraków is a modern exhibition building erected according to the design of Krzysztof Ingarden. It was built on the site of an old tenement "Pod Lipkami". The idea of building the pavilion was first put forward by Polish director Andrzej Wajda. The most important element of the facade are four-meter stained-glass windows with the images of Saint Stanisław, King Casimir the Great and Prince Henry the Pious.

Stained-glass windows were made on the basis of Stanisław Wyspiański designs, which were created with the thought of the Wawel Cathedral. Original colored glass from the early twentieth century was used. The layout of the building refers in the style and form to the scenography of "Legend II" - a later version of the drama "Legend" by Wyspiański, intended for the stage.

The grand opening of the pavilion took place in 2007 during the celebration of the 750th anniversary of the city's location. The pavilion currently is hosting an InfoKraków point, has a conference room and a multimedia exhibition space.
