St. Joseph's Church

Local name: Kościół św. Józefa (ul. Poselska)

St. Joseph's Church, located in Kraków Old Town, is the small, Baroque monastery church of Bernardine Sisters. The interior consists of the miraculous painting of Saint Joseph with the Infant Jesus, and also the figure of little Jesus dressed in colorful costume.

The church was built at the turn of the 18th century for Bernardine Sisters. It's a simple, single-nave, Baroque church with a ridge turret above the nave. The interior, which survived the fire in 1850, was decorated with the new, Lesser-Poland polychrome.

The main altar comes from the 17th century. The painting of Saint Joseph with the Infant Jesus, which arrived from Rome, is placed at it. It is worshipped by inhabitants of Kraków. During Saint Joseph Day, a ceremonial procession takes place here. Since 1884, the adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is celebrated in front of the altar. The figure of baby Jesus from the demolished chapel of Benedictine Sisters in Stradom is placed at the side altar.
