Natural History Museum of the Polish Academy of Sciences

Local name: Muzeum Przyrodnicze PAN

The most important presented exhibit is the only prehistoric hairy rhinoceros preserved in its entirety and perfect condition. The image of this animal, extinct over 12,000 years ago, is the museum's logo. The museum has three permanent exhibitions: "The world of mammoth hunters. Paleolithic era - Nature and Art", "Molluscs of the World" and "Conversation with a Stone" (exhibition of minerals and fossils).

What's more, you can see many interesting temporary exhibitions at the PAN Natural Science Museum. Nature and history lessons, as well as birthday parties for children are also organized here.

The museum's activity began already in 1865, when the Physiographic Commission of the Cracow Scientific Society began gathering the pieces. The first exhibition for visitors was opened in 1888.
