The museum collects objects of sacral art from the Middle Ages to modern times. The most valuable ones are the 13th-century painting depicting Saint Katarzyna and Agnes, and sculptures of Gothic Beautiful Madonnas. The museum also has a collection of Papal Gifts donated by John Paul II. There is also the re-created room from Kanonicza Street where Karol Wojtyła lived.
John Paul II Cathedral Museum was established in 1906. However, the exhibition building was built at the end of the 20th century. It is largely dedicated to sacral art. There are paintings, sculptures, vessels, liturgical equipment and dresses. The oldest items come from the 13th century including the oldest Polish sacral painting depicting Saint Katarzyna and Agnes. Beautiful Madonnas, and figures of Mother of God with the Child come from the turn of the 15th century.The buildings on Kanonicza Street consists of two exhibitions dedicated to John Paul II. One of them presents the re-created room where Karol Wojtyła lived during his work in the Jagiellonian University. It contains all furniture, books, cassocks, and everyday objects.
