Local name: Synagoga Kupa

Kupa Synagogue is Kraków, also known as Hospital Synagogue, was built in the 17th century. It is a Baroque monument consisting of unique paintings such as series of signs of the zodiac, panoramas of, among others, Jerusalem and Hebron, motives of Jerusalem (Mamre Oak and the Western Wall). The paintings were made in the 1920s. The synagogue was entered in the register of objects of cultural heritage.

All polychromies are detailed and realistic. They include perfect depictions of human faces. The interior also consists of the Baroque Torah ark with crown, vase, and the monumental plaque with Hebrew inscription. Apart from the Torah ark, the polychrome symbolizing Twelve Tribes of Israel can be admired here.

The synagogue was founded by the Qahal. "Kupa" in Hebrew means money, treasure - hence its name. Goldsmithing corporation also had a hand in financing the construction.
