Krakowskie Bractwo Kurkowe

"Bractwo Kurkowe" in Kraków is an organization which history dates back to the 14th century. Its members, so-called reconstructors of history, are mostly dedicated to historical shooting. They are characterized by a strong attachment to tradition, and original costumes of the szlachta (żupans, kontushes, chamarres). They can be spotted during religious ceremonies, church and national holidays, historical reconstructions and shooting contests.

In the beginning, organizations like "Bractwo Kurkowe" was to provide military training for citizens obliged to defend their city during a threat. In the past, they operated as a paramilitary corporation-like organization. Today, their activity is mostly social and charitable. Every year members of "Bractwo" chose their king and marshals.
