Galicia Jewish Museum was established in 2004 by British photographer Chris Schwarz. It is located in the renovated building of the former furniture factory in Kraków's Kazimierz. A collection of the founder's color photographs which documents Jewish cultural heritage in Poland is the main part of the permanent exhibition "Traces of Memory". The collection also consists of photographs by Jason Fransisco.
Thanks to temporary exhibitions, bookstore, and educational activity, the museum passes knowledge of the Jewish history and culture in Poland in an attractive and understandable way. It is one of the most important institutions which brings back an interest in Jewish culture in Poland. The museum organizes meetings with survivors of the Holocaust, former prisoners of concentration camps, and people awarded with a medal of Righteous Among the Nations.Less
