Professors' Garden of Jagiellonian University

Local name: Ogród Profesorski UJ

Located inside: Collegium Maius

The Professors' Garden of Jagiellonian University attached to Collegium Maius has the history as long and turbulent as Collegium itself. Its original function was growing vegetables for professors living in Collegium.

Despite its small size, the garden brings attention with educational installations which give an opportunity to learn about various physical and astronomical phenomena, and even perform simple scientific experiments thanks to such devices as the sundial and armillary sphere. Apart from that, the garden presents depictions of professors of the Jagiellonian University.

In the beginning, the Professors' Garden was significantly bigger. Throughout its history, it was neglected and renovated several times. It was used as a botanical garden, orchard, and even magazine of building materials. Today, the garden is renovated, equipped with benches and paved alleys.
