The Church of the Transfiguration in Kraków and the monastery of Piarists form the 18th-century late-Baroque sacral complex. It was designed by Polish architect Kacper Bażanka and Italian architect and sculptor Francesco Placidi (design of the facade).
A lot of architectonic parts draws inspiration from the Church of the Gesù in Rome. The interior consists of polychromies by Moravian painters - Franciszek Eckstein and Józef Plitz. Painting decorations were made with al fresco method based on Roman polychromies by Andrea Pozzo. The church houses the heart of Priest Stanisław Konarski, Piarist, reformer of education and founder of Collegium Nobilium. It was built-in the wall to the right of the altar. His bust was placed by the entrance to the church.Less
