The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary is located in the center of Kraków on the main square. It is also known as Saint Mary's Church. It was entered in the register of nonmovable objects of Lesser Poland Voivodeship. The trumpet call plays from the top of the church's tower every hour.
The construction of the church started at the end of the 13th century. It was rebuilt many times. It preserved the Gothic style. Since 1962, it is titled as a minor basilica. The most interesting parts of the interior are the main altar made by Veit Stoss in the 15th century, the painting decoration by Jan Matejko, and tall windows with stained glasses by, among others, Stanisław Wyspiański. St. Mary's Square, former church cemetery, is situated by the church.
