In the Krakow Zoological Garden over 1,300 animals are represented, representatives of over 270 species. Over 100 of them are animals threatened with extinction or dying, including Great condor, Rothschild's giraffe, Amur tiger, snow panther, Przewalski's horse, small panda.

The Zoological Garden in Krakow is a member of the prestigious European Association of Zoological Gardens and Aquariums. On its premises there are, among others collections of exotic birds, aquatic animals, wild cats, monkeys, terrarium with reptiles and amphibians, fish tanks.

The Cracow Zoological Garden was founded in 1929 on the Pustelnik hill in the Wolski Forest, on the western outskirts of the city. They form part of the Jurassic, limestone hills of the Krakow-Częstochowa Upland and the Krakow Gate. Thanks to this, the Zoological Garden, isolated and isolated from urban development, creates favorable conditions for animal husbandry.
