At the church of St. Peter and Paul the apostles there are crypts. In the crypts between the sixteenth and nineteenth century, the Jesuit Piotr Skarga, bishop Andrzej Trzebicki and count Witold Bieliński were buried. Some of the crypts remain empty until today.
In 2012, the National Pantheon was created in the basement of the church, modeled on the crypt of merits in Skałka, which is the place where the most prominent Poles are to rest. In 2013, Sławomir Mrożek was the first person buried there. In the future, the Pantheon will be a museum, open to visitors and perform an educational function.
