Church of St. Giles

Local name: Kościół św. Idziego

Church of St. Giles is a single-nave church with rich, largely Baroque equipment. It consists of the painting of Saint Giles from the 17th century, seatings from the late-Renaissance canopy tombstone of Saint Hyacinth (located in the Basilica of Holy Trinity in Kraków), the late-Renaissance main altar from the beginning of the 17th century, and also the painting of Mother of God with the Child from the 16th century.

According to tradition, Church of St. Giles was built at the end of the 11th century by Prince Władysław Hermann as a thanksgiving after the birth of his son, Bolesław III Wrymouth. There weren't, however, any Romanesque relics proving this story.

The Gothic building was probably built in the first half of the 14th century. Since 1595 it is administered by Kraków's Dominicans.
