Permanent Gallery "Orthodox Art of the Old Polish Republic"

Local name: Wystawa "Sztuka Cerkiewna Dawnej Rzeczypospolitej"

Gallery "Orthodox Art of the Old Polish Republic" is one of the permanent exhibitions presented in the Bishop Erazm Ciołek Palace. It consists of one of the most valuable in Middle Europe collection of paintings and handicraft related to Eastern Christianity. The most valuable are the 15th and 16th-century icons, which are referred to as "West-Russian", from the Carpathian region.

Apart from pieces of art from the old-Polish regions, the exhibition consists of icons from Rus, the Balkans, and Greece (including Mount Athos). The collection also contains the almost complete iconostasis from Lipowiec of the Kijowszczyzna region.

The museum also displays the sculpted tsarist gate - main entrance of iconostasis which was opened only during masses, processional crosses, Epitaphios used during Holy Week ceremonies, banners, and other items related to the Orthodox liturgy.
