Kadzielnia Nature Reserve

Local name: Rezerwat przyrody Kadzielnia

The nature reserve protects an interesting archaeological site with rock outliers and an underground 160-meter tourist trail, leading through the caves located in the Kadzielnia hill - Discoveries, Prochownia and Szczelina. This is the largest concentration of caves in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains (there are 25 of them here). The area of the Kadzielnia Reserve and the Underground Route are part of the Kielce Geopark.

The limestone rocks that build the hill contain fossilized remains of prehistoric animals. Noteworthy are also exposed, atypically arranged rock folds. You can admire them from the walking paths surrounding the Geologic Rock. Admission to the top is unfortunately not possible.

Kadzielnia is a limestone hill from which stone, especially limestone, was extracted from the 17th century. Extraction ceased only after World War II. In 1962, the Geologists' Rocks left after the quarry, which is the highest point on the Kadzielnia hill, were given special protection to the nature reserve.
