Piast Gord in Kalisz is a partly reconstructed medieval grod from the ninth century, which existed here before. One can admire wooden buildings, which accurately show the conditions, in which our ancestors lived. Inside the lodges there are items used by contemporary people. In addition, museum organizes several attractions, like outdoor events and fairs.
Grod was surrounded by the moat, where reconstructed dugout canoes are placed. To go inside, one has to pass the wooden bridge, and then go through the entrance gate. Inside one can admire a defensive tower, seven lodges and a piece of entrenchment. From the right side of the grod, there is a ground-based part of Romanesque collegiate of Saint Paul from the twelfth century. What's interesting, in the church underground a founder of a temple – Mieszko III the Old together with his son – Mieszko Mieszkowic – are buried.
On site of the grod it is worth to visit interiors of lodges, to see antique everyday items and Knight's equipment. There are also pieces of early medieval armors, weaponry and old goblets. Moreover, at the foundation of the collegiate there is a mound grave and a model of the whole grod.
