Forest Railway Museum
Local name: Skansen Kolei Leśnej
The museum is dedicated to the history of forest railway which operated here in the past. It presents monumental locomotives and railway cars. There are also valuable documents, plans, maps, and photographs. Embankments, trackages, and bridges survived to this day.
Forest Railway Museum displays two types of locomotives - steam locomotive Las47 and diesel locomotive Wls50. It also presents several types of railway cars: stake car for transporting timber, platform, passenger carriage for workers, coal carriage, tank carriage, platform with snow plough, and koleba.The history of the railway dates back to 1914. It was then when Russians built the first part connecting Biłgoraj with Zwierzyniec. The next part was made by Austrians and another by Germans during World War II. The railway was mainly used for transporting wood. Because it was neglected, it was decided to dismantle it at the end of the 20th century.Less
