Church of St. Ivo

Local name: Kościół św. Iwona

Situated in close proximity to the main health resort's promenade, the 19th-century Church of St. Ivo in Iwonicz-Zdroj is an amazing example of a wooden church with Neo-Gothic features. Its interior draws inspiration from an Old-Christian basilica and consists of, among others, the Gothic main altar and Renaissance side altars. Worthy of attention is also the decorative timber roof truss. The church has timber-framed construction, characteristic for West-European churches.

The church was designed by Austrian architect Favorger and built in 1896. It was founded by the Załuski Family which was related to the establishment of the health resort in the city. It was renovated in the 1950s. The new, brick Church of Our Lady of Health of the Sick is situated nearby.

The first church built here - Zdrojów Chapel mentioned for the first time in 1842 - was located in the area of today's bus stop. The monumental obelisk can be seen here.
