Gothic church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Michael Archangel in Haczow, which was entered on the Unesco list, is one of the biggest and oldest wooden temples in Europe with log structure. Inside one can admire priceless fifteenth century figural polychrome showing scenes of Passion of Jesus, gothic sculpture of Mother of God with a Child, baroque altars, fifteenth century painted consecration cross, so called "Apostles crosses", as well as gothic portals. There is also a copy of gothic Pieta of Grace, which nowadays is placed in a new temple.
The church was probably established at the turn of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, and over the years, it was transformed several times. The most important reconstruction took place in seventeenth century, when a tower with a chill and arcades surrounding church were added. When in 1948 services were moved to the new temple, the old church begun to deteriorate. Only in 1980s conservation works started, which lasted for two decades. Since November 2005, Masses are celebrated in the temple again.
In 2006 church was shown on the coins issued by the National Polish Bank with nominal values 2 and 20 zlotys.
