Church of St. Michael the Archangel

Local name: Kościół św. Michała Archanioła

The Church of St. Michael the Archangel was built in the 13th century. It was rebuilt numerous times since that times but preserved the structure of a Gothic basilica with a square tower. The oldest part of it is the three-bay presbytery. The church was equipped with the Baroque and Mannerist equipment at the beginning of the 17th century, after the Thirty Years' War.

The church in Grodków was first mentioned in the first half of the 13th century. In the beginning, it was an early-Gothic church. The only part that remained from those times is the presbytery. In the 15th century, it was rebuilt after the fire. It then obtained the look of a Gothic, three-nave basilica with a shake roof and narrow, lancet windows. The square tower topped by battlements and pyramidal spire was added to the nave.

The interior is much younger than the structure. The church was destroyed in the 17th century after the Thirty Years' War. It then obtained the barrel vault in the main nave and richly decorated, sculpted altars. There are also several tombstones from different times.
