The museum has its headquarters in a building that is over a century old, formerly the Hospital of St. Spirit. The museum's collection currently has several thousand items. Most are ethnographic, historical exhibits with valuable archives, numismatic and artistic. In addition to exhibition activities, the institution organizes temporary exhibitions, historical competitions and museum lessons.

We will see the episcopal folklore of Gostyń and everyday objects at the ethnographic exhibition. Collections regarding the history of Gostyń and the surrounding area include guild books, reporters of chanterelles, societies and local institutions.

In addition, the museum collections contain valuable archives, e.g. documents signed by Jan Kazimierz, Jan III Sobieski, Henryk Dąbrowski, and Józef Poniatowski. The institution has a large collection of numismatic items, and in the art department we will see over three hundred paintings and sculptural works of artists from the Gostyń region.
