New Bench House, also known as Hall of Gdansk, is a wonderful monumental building and former court. It neighbors with another impressive construction - the tenement house called the Artus Court. Each day, in the highest part of Hall of Gdańsk, the Lady shows up in the window. It's a reference to the novel with the same name.
New Bench House was built in the 15th century. It served many purposes throughout its existence: residential house for families of higher ranks of society, headquarters of bench house, stock exchange office, and gallery. The interior of Hall of Gdańsk, mainly staircase, wardrobes, ceramics, and sculptures come from the 18th century.Just as many other monumental buildings in Gdańsk, New Bench House combines features of different architectonic styles - it has Gothic facade, Renaissance portal, and Baroque top. Because New Bench House and the Artus Court are located close to each other, they are recognized as a complex which is administered by Gdańsk History Museum.Less
