Missionary Museum
Local name: Muzeum Salezjańskie
The museum, which is housed in monastic premises, collects memorabilia brought by Salesian missionaries from all over the world. The building itself dates back to the 12th century, and museum exhibits can also be seen in the nearby Sanctuary of Our Lady of Consolation - some of which are lapidary, a special exhibition of sculptures and stones.
Among the museum collections are the souvenirs brought by Salesian missionaries who work in 132 countries. Also worth mentioning is the church itself which is part of the Sanctuary, where, apart from parts of the Museum collection, you can find precious Romanesque paintings (the largest in Poland), Gothic, Renaissance and sculpted Romanesque portal.
The museum opened in 1976. Created by Fr. Zbigniew Malinowski.
