Jan Kochanowski Museum

Local name: Muzeum Jana Kochanowskiego

The Jan Kochanowski biographical museum was established in Chernolesa, the place where he lived and created the Renaissance poet. In the stone Jabłonowski Manor House a permanent exhibition is presented, divided into 6 rooms. Each of them has an individual character.

They contain editions of the poet's works, paintings, sculptures, antique furniture, souvenirs and exhibitions devoted to his court life. Everything is decorated in a Renaissance style.

In addition to exhibitions, in the basement and chapel you can see scenes from the period with the participation of Master Jan.

Among the items closely related to Kochanowski is an oak armchair with a coat of arms, covered with leather, and an iron door from a home treasure chest. The exhibition is varied by tapestries, referring to important episodes from Kochanowski's life.

The whole is surrounded by a charming landscape park. The sarcophagus of his beloved daughter Urszula was placed in it, whose premature death became the inspiration for the poet to write a series of Trains
