Monument of Archer in Bydgoszcz is a symbol of the city. The work was done by Ferdinand Lepcke and presents a natural-sized young woman stretching the bow of the bow. Her image is displayed on numerous postage stamps, badges and postcards, and her name is called Bydgoszcz sports and spectacle hall.
The sculpture is made of bronze. The archer has classic body proportions and a sporty, athletic construction. The figure is naked, with only Roman feet on the legs. The statue was set on a granite pedestal. Interestingly, there are several copies of the work that are found in Berlin, Coburg, Heringsdorf and Wilhelmshaven.
The monument was created at the beginning of the last century. In 1910 it was officially unveiled, and the naked female figure immediately aroused much controversy. The archers were screened during church celebrations so as not to upset the people in the procession. In the 1920s it was even wanted to remove the monument from the city, fortunately it was decided to move only from the street. At present the Archer's Monument is located in the park of Jan Kochanowski.
