Kasteel de Haar is the largest and most beautifully decorated castle in the Netherlands. The existence of the building was mentioned as early as 1391, however, it owes its present appearance to the general reconstruction of 1892. Inside there are 200 luxurious rooms, 30 bathrooms and dozens of utility rooms. The building is surrounded by a well-maintained, 100-hectare park. Only a small part of the castle is open to visitors.
All castle rooms have the most expensive and technically most perfect equipment that were available at the end of the 19th century. steam heating and own electric generator. For the needs of furnishing the castle, the furniture was designed from scratch and all furniture, cutlery and huge kitchen equipment were made. This was possible thanks to the money of the Rothschilds, when the last heir of the castle entered their family.
With similar panache as the palace, the surrounding park was also arranged. To speed up landscape composition, over 7,000 were planted. large trees and shrubs.
